Considered the original Citadel of Manila, this is the oldest district in the capital of the Philippines. A reminiscent of other Spanish defenses in the Caribbean, this is also made up almost completely of stone blocks, defending the people inside it, living up to its Latin name which means “Within the Walls.” In 1951, it was declared a National Historical Monument due to its flavorful history and aesthetically beautiful attraction.
